Adrian Flores is a landscape designer with a passion for design detailing and systems thinking who enjoys working at multiple scales. He embraces the non-static challenges that landscapes provide and believes that developing a strong framework creates potential for interventions to integrate into their context, naturally increasing the opportunity for a site to evolve into place. An interest in manipulating and pushing material properties has led him to actively pursue tactile learning; through digging, burying, carving, welding and bolting we truly reconcile scales.

In addition to teaching at RISD, Flores is an associate at Stephen Stimson Associates, where he works on various projects ranging in scales from small/residential to medium/institutional and large/public parks. He is currently working on Hardberger Park Land Bridge, a 150-foot-wide wildlife/pedestrian crossing that spans a six-lane highway in San Antonio, TX. He is also working on two Boston-area projects at Northeastern University: a seamlessly integrated atrium and plaza that highlights storm water as a form-driving system and a pedestrian bridge that crosses busy railroad tracks and connects students from the adjacent Roxbury neighborhood to Northeastern’s north campus.

Flores earned his MLA at RISD, where he was awarded the ASLA Graduate Merit Award for his thesis work on the Salton Sea, and his BS in Landscape Architecture from California State Polytechnic University of Pomona. He received the President’s Scholarship award during his time at RISD and has also worked for renowned artist Mary Miss in her New York studio.
