Adrianne Tharp

Adrianne Tharp grew up in Pennsylvania, where she frequently traveled through the Pocono Mountains and was fascinated by miles of road cuts. She earned her undergraduate degree from Alfred University in the glacial region of New York state, where she studied sculpture and glass and took the geology and astronomy courses that still inspire much of her work.

After moving to Providence to work with Daniel Clayman, Tharp developed skills in model making, kiln-casting glass and bronze finishing. She earned her MFA at RISD and has been teaching glass kiln casting since 2002 as well as freelance mold and model making. She continues to observe and admire the natural world pursue a practice as an artist.
