Aidan Petrie

Aidan Petrie co-founded medical design firm Ximedica with Stephen Lane in 1985 and currently serves as chief innovation officer. With a focus on human-centered design, usability, technical innovation and industrial design, Petrie has helped bring hundreds of products to market. Ranging from simple drug compliance aids to wearable therapeutics, home monitoring products and complex surgical systems, the projects he leads challenge his team to rethink the role that design plays in the success of each product.

Petrie frequently presents talks on industrial design and is a widely published author. In addition to working at Ximedica and lecturing at RISD, MIT and the Harvard iLab, he advises multiple startups in the healthcare industry and is a member of MassArt’s Board of Trustees. He earned an undergraduate degree in product design/engineering from Central St. Martins and a master’s in industrial design from RISD.
