August Lehrecke

August Lehrecke has been immersed in design and craft since childhood. The son of two practicing designers, he was born in New York City and raised in upstate New York. He studied Furniture Design at RISD and established an investigative process that attempts to redefine experiences in the domestic environment through new archetypes in furniture and lighting. He draws inspiration from a range of sources, including the elliptical paths of the planets and the monolithic forms of ancient structures. His work reflects a performative aspect of craft, tying skill and practice together with outside influences to create unique objects that defy expectation while remaining useful.
