While building a professional career as a jewelry artist and designer, Barbara Seidenath was offered the opportunity to teach, a job that she considers both a challenge and a privilege. She continues to learn from her students while teaching them and always attempts to be clear, tolerant, flexible yet firm, compassionate and critical, patient, enthusiastic, encouraging and unclouded by self serving intentions when teaching.

Academic research/areas of interest

Siedenath prefers dialogue to monologue and considers it more interesting and creative. She sees collaboration as a form of dialogue that encourages responsibility, builds confidence and cultivates community. She enjoys working closely with colleagues and developing and teaching a consistent curriculum. Ultimately she wants to see students graduate as thoughtful makers and designers and independent thinkers.
