Christopher Sancomb
Chris Sancomb was born in Winnepeg, Canada and raised in Louisville, KY. He received his BFA in Sculpture from RISD in 1993 and his MFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1998. After living in Atlanta, GA for five years, he returned with his family to live in southern Rhode Island. Aside from exhibiting his own sculpture, Sancomb has also worked designing furniture, restoring classic architectural stonework, making molds and teaching sculpture, and he currently designs and builds exhibits for The Providence Children’s Museum.
Academic research/areas of interest
Sculpture and the process of exploration of new materials and techniques for creating art. Landscape architecture, and the design of public spaces. Drawing, reading, collecting and studying the natural world. Designing, investigating, researching, problem solving.
