David Proulx

David Proulx comes to RISD with 25 years of experience in higher education financial management and administration. Most recently he served for six years as vice president of finance and administration and treasurer and special advisor to the president for revenue at Franklin & Marshall College, where he oversaw all areas of financial management, human resources, facilities and operations, auxiliary services, information technology services and public safety.

At Franklin & Marshall Proulx also led the implementation of a new administrative software system, helped develop an integrated facilities plan leading to the renovation of several buildings, established a partnership with UPenn Lancaster General Health to provide health and wellness services to student and led the development of the college’s first Sustainability Master Plan, among other accomplishments.

Prior to his time at Franklin & Marshall, Proulx spent 14 years at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), where he led the implementation of a complete restructuring of the university's budget management process before assuming the role of associate vice president for finance. At UNH he also served as Interim associate vice president for human resources and was the point person for an affiliation agreement between the university and Franklin Pierce Law Center (now the UNH School of Law), and co-taught a business course for several years.

Proulx is a native of Bedford, NH and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from the University of New Hampshire. He also completed the Management Development Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. He and his wife Rachel have three children, Madeleine, Evan and Max. In addition to spending time with his family, Dave enjoys participating in various sports activities, fishing, hiking and rooting for Boston sports teams.
