Debra Folz

Furniture Design Critic Debra Folz earned her Master’s from RISD and a BFA in Interior Design from the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University. Her work explores materials and concepts, blurring the boundaries between disciplines and incorporating textiles and embroidery techniques into furniture. Her process translates traditional craft and manufacturing methods into contemporary visual languages and objects. Recent awards and recognition include New England Home magazine’s “5 Under 40” award (2010) and inclusion in the 2012 “Women to Watch” exhibition as well as the Boston Globe’s “Top 25 Most Stylish Bostonians” (2012). In addition, she won an Award for Teaching Excellence at the New England School of Art & Design in 2012. Her work has been featured in many national and international publications, including the New York Times, Fast Company, and Dwell.
