Edek Sher

Edek Sher is an artist and musician based in Providence. He earned his BA at Kenyon College, where he studied English Literature. As an undergraduate, he took courses in electronic music and art, ran live sound for touring musicians and managed and engineered the student-run recording studio. Sher’s work explores the intersections of individuals’ imaginations and corporations’ objectives and the points at which they clash. His artistic practice focuses on the role of art and the individual in the face of antagonistic corporate practices, climate change and social inequality. Finding inspiration in digital cultures, fetishized products, social media and notions of the end of the world, he creates installations with complex narrative structures, attempting to re-contextualize his research in ways that are humorous and poetic while still remaining informative.
