Elizabeth Debs

Elizabeth Debs has been involved in architecture/planning, community development and nonprofit work for over 25 years. She has worked in real estate development, as director of a community organization, as principal of an architectural practice and now teaches in higher education. She is particularly interested in how academia interacts with the larger community.

Focusing her work and volunteer activities on issues of social equity, Debs is active on the Board of the Providence Public Library as well as the West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation and is co-chair of the Sankofa food and culture initiative in Providence’s West End. She is on the Advisory Group for the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Housing and Community Development Knowledge Community and was part of the inaugural research delegation that traveled to Yunnan Province, China. She is also a member of the GrowSmartRI Land-Use Training Collaborative.
