Jonathan Weinberg

Painter and art historian Jonathan Weinberg is author of Male Desire: The Homoerotic in American Art; Ambition and Love in Modern American Art; and Speaking for Vice: Homosexuality in the Art of Charles Demuth, Marsden Hartley and the First-American Avant-Garde. In 2011 he co-curated with Barbara Buhler Lynes Shared Intelligence: American Painting and the Photograph for the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and in 2012 he curated the exhibition The Piers: Art and Sex along the New York Waterfront for the Leslie Lohman Museum.

Weinberg has taught at Brown University, Yale University and RISD. His paintings are included in many public and private collections, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Jersey City Museum and the Montclair Art Museum. A one-man retrospective of his paintings was on view at the Leslie Lohman Museum in 2009.
