Mara Hermano

Mara Hermano oversees accreditation and related institutional planning and manages the operations of the President's Office. She previously served as executive director of Strategic Planning and Academic Initiatives in Academic Affairs, and as special assistant to the president.

After earning a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MA from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, Hermano worked in the press office at Christie's auction house and as a project manager at the Frick Art Reference Library in New York. Before coming to RISD, she served as special assistant to the dean at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.

Hermano is co-editor of The Art of Critical Making: Rhode Island School of Design on Creative Practice (Wiley, 2013) and co-author of At Home with Filipino Art and Artists (Anvil Publishing, 2001). In addition, she served as editor of Spanish Artists from the Fourth to the Twentieth Century: A Critical Dictionary, vols. 3–4 (GK Hall, 1996) and Lamesa: The Filipino Table (Santa Barbara Publishing, 1999).
