Michael Lamar

Lighting designer, sculptor and ceramist Michael Lamar has been teaching at RISD since 1985. He also teaches art, art history, ceramics and professional practice classes at Providence College, the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and Rhode Island College, and has instructed in RISD’s Project Open Door program for local high school students.

Lamar earned his MFA in sculpture from RISD and his BFA in ceramics from the University of South Carolina. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Craft Council and has earned numerous awards over the years.
