Nicholas Scappaticci

Before co-founding Tellart in 1999, Industrial Design Critic Nick Scappaticci graduated from RISD’s Industrial Design department. He has worked as a design engineer in the Mechanical Technologies division of international toy manufacturer Hasbro; served as design director for a variety of theatrical productions; and taught numerous courses on information design, interface design and interaction design topics in RISD’s Industrial Design and Graphic Design departments.

In addition to teaching and mentoring students, Scappaticci continues to lead operations and design in Tellart’s Providence headquarters. He ensures that every designed element produced by Tellart is of the highest possible quality. He manages a staff of graphic, interaction and industrial designers through every step of a project’s production, working with international clients such as Google, Nokia Design, Otis Elevator and Humana Inc. He works closely with clients to encourage innovation, and his methodology of participatory design and use of traditional and non-traditional visual communication tools have driven Tellart’s process in both internal R&D and client projects.

Scappaticci has designed and managed production of dozens of interactive interfaces and experiences for non-profits and commercial ventures alike, including websites, interactive documentaries, virtual tours, social networking portals, mobile device interfaces, interactive installations and ubiquitous computing product interfaces. His exacting design reviews make certain that aesthetics and interface functionality work hand in hand, down to the last pixel and touchpoint.
