Peter Prip

Peter Prip has been teaching at RISD for 22 years. He holds the patent on a cooking tool he designed and has been making one-of-a-kind limited edition jewelry throughout his career. He was invited to develop a “Loving Cup” show for the Newport Museum of Art in 2012 and had work in the Chazan and URI galleries in 2013.

Prip is the recipient of the a 2013 Networks Award, is currently producing a painted metal sculpture for Bernardo Manufacturing Co. of East Providence (where he also consults) and was included in the 2014 Networks exhibition at the Newport Art Museum. He attended the Rochester Institute of technology (three years), performed a three-year internship with master metalsmith Ronald Pearson, was a studio assistant to master metalsmith John Prip for four years, spent two years doing product development work for Reed and Barton Silver Co. in partnership with John Prip and produced design concepts for Cross Pen Co. He is currently involved in a product development project centered on new materials in partnership with Robert Sweet for TMI corp.
